Vice President/Associate, Debt Capital Markets

The Vice President will focus primarily on coverage of Insurance clients within the Debt Capital Markets team in HSBC’s Americas region. The Debt Capital Markets franchise is one of the leading areas of growth within HSBCs Corporate and Investment Bank. The role requires primary coverage through content-led strategic client dialogue. The role will require someone with a track record of engaging with financial clients, institutional investors, rating agencies, and relevant regulatory authorities. As a Vice President, will be responsible for working with the Managing Director to deepen relationships and lead the origination, structuring, and execution of fixed income securities across the insurance capital structure. Strong ratings, capital structure and balance sheet analysis capability critical.

As our Vice President, Debt Capital Markets you will:

  • Lead client engagement around Life and Reinsurance sectors amongst others
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Insurance clients to understand respective financing needs and objectives, driving innovative ideas and content
  • Maintain consistent client contact focused on revenue generation across fixed income solutions
  • Guide a team of junior bankers in development of core content and in deal execution
  • Drive origination and execution of securities across the capital structure and other structured solutions
  • Oversee the preparation of relevant deal-related and non-deal related marketing material
  • Collaborate with HSBC global colleagues to support the creation of solutions to client needs that span geographical/product boundaries and regulatory environments
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business
  • Synthesize market observations and developments to identify relevant themes for clients, staying abreast of relevant emerging regulatory or rating themes in the industry
  • Bring a natural curiosity, collaborative approach, and critical thinking skills to drive business

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, MBA or advanced degree a plus
  • Direct experience in capital markets or banking
  • Demonstrable deep understanding of insurance capital securities, rating methodology and regulatory developments
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with specific ability to communicate concepts and ideas concisely and defend their validity
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills and an understanding of fixed income products
  • Ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines and have the aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and to develop innovative solutions
  • Adaptability, able to manage multiple projects independently, drive client outcomes and be ready to assume a high level of responsibility as a member of a large and growing team
  • Outstanding client engagement skills, including active listening, relationship development and honest advice
  • Experience in training junior bankers – teaching, mentoring and coaching
  • Strong team player, promotes collaboration and teamwork with others by encouraging others to participate and acknowledging others’ contributions
  • FINRA series 63, 79 and 7 licenses are required. Manager can allow a contingency period to obtain licenses at their discretion

Your final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and several variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.
